What is Power?

Power, in our view, is the capacity to participate KNOWINGLY in changes by being aware, making choices, feeling free to act on our intentions, and involving ourselves in creating change. The Power-Imagery Process teaches you to do just that. You can find it at http://www.powerimagery.com.

Power is a force of will that gives life to life. Exerting this force with the gift of life sets before us choice. As in the case with every quality we inherently possess, there is always a choice of two directions in which to exercise them. We can use the choice to one – benefit ourselves and others or two – to benefit only ourselves, or others at the expense of ourselves. Choice one is productive and often creative. Choice two is predominantly destructive and counterproductive.

So it is with power. Our power can be used to serve others, encourage them, promote self-authority and autonomy, self-reliance, self-responsibility, while keeping ourselves strong, often serving as a model for giving hope. On the other hand, our power can be used for subjugating and dominating others to render them powerless, or engage the game of master-slave. Sometimes we surrender our power and make ourselves the unnecessary slave to others. In any event, the power described here is a misuse.

Having seen the effects and aftermath of the misuse of power through our combined 75 years as clinicians in a therapeutic setting, we came to understand and know how to counteract the ill effects of power’s misuse and to provide the means for restoring the “right use” of power to each one of us. The result of our combined wisdom is the Power-Imagery Process (PIP) that we have created together over a six-year joint effort to construct a direct and easily accessible method to restore power and renew power. What we want to show and share with you is that power is in your hands. It has always been, still is, and will be through the Power-Imagery Process.
